JV Wolverine Tueday Action vs. Lake Washington HS

On Tuesday night, The Bellevue Wolverines travelled up 405 to take on the current second place team in the league, the Lake Washington Kangaroos.

In set one, Bellevue rode the hot serving hand of Ally Witham to take a 12-7 lead. At 12-8, Callie Weber backed up a big kill with and ace and the Wolverines took a 14-8 lead. LW brought it back to 15-14, but a Delani Conway kill followed by an Alexis Khuu ace, increase the Wolverine lead to 17-14. However, LW was not done, and was able to tie it up at 20. After an LW serve landed out to make the score 21-20, #44 from the Kang’s took over the game and got kills on four of the next five points as set one slipped away from Bellevue 21-25.

Set two was similar to set one as Witham had another long service run and brought BHS from behind to take an 8-7 lead. The Wolverines fell behind 8-10 but Sophia Knapp served back to back aces and after a Conway tip, Bellevue tied the score at 12. The score went back and forth and Bellevue found themselves again tied at 20. As Yogi Berra would say, it was like “Deja-vu all over again” as #44 from LW made the key plays at the net. A Conway kill made it 21-23 but LW finished the deal with an identical score to game one of 21-25.

Set three was one to forget as the Wolverines never got it going and before you knew it, LW had taken a commanding lead. The Kangaroo’s hopped away with a 13-25 win to finish off the match, 3-0.

The Wolverines played well in their first two games, but couldn’t close the deal when needed. Bellevue will play LW again on October 22nd for BHS Senior Night at home. Let’s show up in force to root the team on and show our appreciation for this year’s senior players, Denali Conway and Katie Griffin.
