At Senior Night on Monday, the Wolverine Volleyball Program honored our four seniors, Emily Burns, Tayla Isensee, Emily Kowalski, and Ally Witham. These players have all been in the program for four years, working incredibly hard to help us get where we are today. Emily Burns and Emily Kowalski were both two-year varsity players, while Witham anchored the right side of the varsity squad for four years. Tayla provided much-needed coaching assistance this year, showing her strong dedication to the program. Before the game, the BHS seniors gave a rose to the visiting Seniors from Redmond. The girls were joined by their families on the floor to share in this special moment.

Redmond Sweeps to Victory in Kingco Tune-Up
The Redmond Mustangs traveled to Bellevue on Monday night for the last match of the regular season.
Regardless of the outcome of this game, these two teams will be playing Thursday night for a chance to go to district, although this did not seem like a dress rehearsal. Freshman Carly Burns made her varsity debut getting the start in back row. In a cool family moment, she was subbed in for by her sister, Emily and the game was on. An Ally Witham kill gave BHS and early 3-1 lead. An Emily Kowalski spike gave the Wolverines a slim 8-7 lead. Holly Huard got back to back kills to make the score 12-13 sending the Wolverines on a mini run. Up 16-15, Redmond hitter, Elise Pettit, crushed a ball that Sophia Knapp dug up to Alexis Khuu who set up Emily Kowalski for the kill. The next point was the same exact exchange and ended the same exact way putting BHS up 18-15. Witham got two more kills in a run that put the Wolverines up 21-17. A Naomi Chen-Mallouk block made the score 22-17. A Khuu well-placed tip made it 24-21, giving BHS the serve for game point. But , Redmond fought back and tied the game at 24-24. Back and forth it went. BHS got two kills from Witham to fight off game points and Jenna Kennan did the same, but in the end Redmond took the game, 28-30.
Game two was similar to the first as the score went back and forth. Witham got a kill followed by a Callie Weber kill to tie the game at 6-6. Redmond went on a run to take an 8-12 lead and a BHS time out. Holly Huard got a much needed kill to make the score 16-19. Huard then went on a tear getting kills on three straight points to tie the score at 20. After a Chen-Mallouk kill, Huard got another smash to give BHS a 22-21 lead. Weber got two kills to make it 24-24 and then 25-25, but RHS got the final two points to take game 2, 25-27.
After two hard fought games of back and forth volleyball something had to give in game three. After a Chen-Mallouk block made it 4-4, Redmond took control of the game. Another Chen-Mallouk kill got BHS to within five at 9-14, but that was the closest it was going to get. Rolling with confidence, Redmond hit their stride and put the game away in convincing fashion, 12-25.
After Bellevue beat Redmond convincingly on their home court earlier in the year, Redmond was able to settle the score tonight. The rubber match is the one that really counts this Thursday in the KINGCO playoffs. The game will be at home at 5:30. Please come out and cheer on the girls for a chance to go to the district playoffs!

The Wolverine volleyball pipeline is looking strong, as both the Junior Varsity and C Teams won their respective divisions in 2016.
The JV team swept Redmond in a bit of an odd match that featured several Bellevue rotation violations, some confused reffing, and an unlikely comeback by Redmond in Game 2. In any event, our players stayed focused and won in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-20. Overall, the JV squad finished 14-0 against Kingco competition (28-2 in set score) and appeared to be having a very good time in the process. Great job JV team and Coach P!
Not to be outdone, the C Team swept to victory against Redmond and claimed the Kingco title with an overall record of 12-2. Congratulations to the C team and Coach Loretta! We're looking forward to great things from all of these players in the future.
