Wolverines Topple Totems
Varsity, JV, and C Teams Roll vs. Sammamish
The Bellevue Wolverine squads hosted the Sammamish Totems on Monday night and continued their strong overall play as they head into the second half of the Kingco season.
The varsity team was looking to carry the momentum from their big win last Wednesday at Redmond. Alexis Khuu, the team leader in aces, started behind the service line and was taking no prisoners as she aced the first 4 serves of the night. Behind 4 Callie Weber kills, the lead was stretched to 10-0 with Alexis still serving. The Wolverines didn’t look back as they made quick work of the Totems in game 1, 25-6, behind 7 Weber kills and 3 Weber aces.
Sammamish kept it more interesting in Game 2 as BHS took and early lead but the Totems hung around. In the end, the Wolverines won 25-17. BHS got 2 kills from Jordan Meyers, 2 more from Jenna Keenan, a nice block from Mina Dedijer, aces from Holly Huard and Sophia Knapp, and a deft tip from Taylor Eide.
Callie Weber started off game 3 with 2 aces to set the tone. BHS spread it around in the final game as Ally Witham, Naomi Chen-Mallouk, Holly Huard, Liv Sergeeff, and Alexis Khuu all got kills. Natalie Moselle finished it off with an ace to close the door, 25-11.
In the JV match, the Wolverines rode a series of long serving runs from Bridget Conroy, Sailor Anicker, Julia Bray, Lauren Gorder, and Meghan Weber to cruise to a 25-5, 25-4, 15-3 victory. The C Team had similar success, taking their match 25-12, 25-8, and 15-13.
Bellevue takes on Lake Washington on Wednesday night in our annual Dig Pink game.
