Bellevue Wolverines Defeat Sammamish Totems 3-0

Thursday night's Varsity action against Sammamish

JV Wolverine Tueday Action vs. Sammamish

Bellevue's Varsity team made quick and decisive work Thursday evening of the visiting Totems of Sammamish High School, winning 3 - 0 (25-17, 25-19 and 25-10).  The win put the BHS Wolverines at 3-3 and right in the middle of the Kingco league 3A standings.  For this match, the team also welcomed a member of the JV team, Naomi Chen-Mallouk who had a great debut (and was loudly supported by the entire JV team watching from the stands).

The starting 5 (Ally Witham, Callie Weber, Katie Griffen, Sophia Knapp and Denali Conway) combined for 10 aces on their way to a 25-17 first set score.  While it looked like Sammamish was going to have an edge in height, Belelvue had the edge in just about every other category.   A combination of great serving by Denali Conway and Kate Griffen helped keep the opposing team off balance.  Great setting by Alexis, Taylor and Liv Sergeeff put Callie Weber, Holly Huard and Emily Kowalski in a position to make some great (and un-returnable) slams. Huard also had her back-row attack game going in the 3rd set.

The Wolverines will participate in a tournament this Saturday at Seattle Christian in Seatac to prepare for the 2nd half of their Kingco schedule.  Next up will be an away game vs. cross-town rival Interlake High School on Tuesday, October 6th.  Please come out to Interlake and cheer the Wolverines on!
