Wolverines Slam Sammamish

Teams take care of business in Kingco season opener

The Bellevue Wolverines volleyball program displayed its depth and breadth with a dominant performance at Sammamish last Wednesday night.  All three teams won their matches 3-0, with contributions coming from up and down the entire lineup for each of the squads.

The varsity team took its match 25-11, 25-15, and 25-19 behind the strong hitting of Callie Weber (13 kills) and Holly Huard (5 kills).  Alexis Khuu set the table with 19 assists, and continued to confound the opposing team with her serve (8 aces).  Huard and Sophia Knapp anchored a staunch defensive effort with 8 digs each.

The JV team looked sharp in a 25-7, 25-9, and 15-5 victory that featured contributions from every player in the lineup.  Natalie Hayes got the ball rolling with a 10-point service run to start the match and the team didn't look back from there.  The C team was equally impressive in a 3-set 25-8, 25-6, and 15-6 win.

The competition stiffens this week with a trip to Lake Washington on Monday and a home match against Liberty on Wednesday.  We've seen how well the players respond to boisterous crowd support, so let's make sure to rally family and friends to the BHS gym on Wednesday!
