Great First Half for BHS Volleyball!
As the BHS volleyball program turns the page on the first half of the 2019 season, each of the teams is playing hard and battling for KingCo3A supremacy.
The Varsity squad sits at 7-0 and enjoys a two-game lead over Lake Washington. Although their 21-3 set score would suggest dominance in the league, there is still very tough competition, as evidenced by a tight win over Mercer Island on October 7th. The Wolverines dug deep and came back from a two-set deficit to prevail in five.
The Junior Varsity team sits at 6-1 and in a close second position to Mercer Island in league play. The Mercer Island match was one for the ages, with the Islanders prevailing 15-13 in the third set. We'll get them on our home floor!
Finally, the young and athletic JV/C Wolverines also had a great first half and currently sit at 5-2 in league play. In last week's play, it was a tough go against Mercer Island but the team worked hard and improved on their serve and serve receives. The final match score was 11-15, 15-25, 16-25. Against Liberty, it was a close first set with a Bellevue loss of 25-20. The team came out strong in the 2nd set with some great plays at the net by Maggie and Jess. They also had some strong serves by Halle, Stella, Hailey and Callie for a win of 25-14. In the last set, the team won with some great passing from Meiko in addition to contributions by the whole team to win 25-15 over Liberty. The JV/C team has a shot at the league crown with a strong second half of the season.
Great job by all of the players and coaches, and GO WOLVERINES!!
