KingCo 3A Champions!

Varsity Squad Secures Regular Season Title at Lake Washington

In a season featuring a high degree of parity in the KingCo 3A conference, the Varsity Wolverines have ridden their consistent and confident play to the regular season championship.  Heading into their last match against Mercer Island, the Varsity Wolverines sit at 10-1 in league play, with the closest competitors (Lake Washington and Interlake) at 6-4.  Congratulations to all of the players and coaches on a job well done!

Against Lake Washington on Wednesday, the Wolverines split the first two sets in a tense back and forth with the tall Kang squad.  The second set was dispiriting, with the Kangaroos coming back from a 23-18 deficit to take the set 28-26.  But the Wolverines displayed their trademark resolve, buckling down to take the final two sets 25-12 and 25-13.

The Junior Varsity team beat Lake Washington in straight sets and they are on a roll.  They head into the final match against Mercer Island with a half game lead in KingCo.  A win against MI secures the league title.  The last match against MI was a three-set thriller, so this one sets up to be a great one as well.  GO JV WOLVERINES!!

Finally, the JV/C Wolverines have had a great season under first-year coach Justin Tan and currently sit at 8-3 in league play.  Again Juanita on 10/14, our Wolverines lost a close first game to Juanita with a score of 25-18.  In the second game we had some great swings by Mindy Chang and serves from all with a strong run by Callie Lentz to win 25-18.  The Wolverines rode strong serving to win the last game 15-4.  Against Sammamish, the JV/C squad served very well and won the first set with a score of 25-18.  They were down 14-8 in the second only to come back and win 25-21 with some scrappy play and rallies.  They won the third with a shake-up in the line up by a score of 25-9. Against Interlake, the JV/C Wolverines played well but unfortunately lost the first two sets 17-25 and 18-25.  They came back strong to win the third set but dropped the match 2-1.  Finally, the Wolverines had two strong first sets against Lake Washington to win 25-22 in both. They lost the third but made a valiant effort for a comeback off serves from Maggie Lo.

Great job by all of the players and coaches, and GO WOLVERINES!!
