Frequently Asked Questions

Are Open Gyms Mandatory?

No, but they are a great opportunity to get on the court with your BHS teammates. You must be completely registered for 2023 Fall Volleyball in order to be able to participate in Open Gyms.

When are tryouts?

Tryouts for the Fall 2023 season will begin on Monday, August 21st.  The location and time will be posted soon, please arrive at least 15 minutes early to register, get your health check up and help set up the gym. Please see Calendar tab for updated days/times.

What is the schedule during tryouts?

The tryout plan is set by the coaching staff, however it is important to attend all tryouts and practices as participants are required to have a minimum of 10 practices completed before participating in their first league match.

* Trying out for a certain position does NOT mean you will play that position for the season.

Is volleyball a no-cut sport?

*This season is a Cut season.

Generally the coaches like to take 12-14 players on the three teams (Varsity, JV, and C) so 36-42 total. But that is at the coaches' discretion.

What do I need to do to participate in Fall Volleyball tryouts at BHS?

If you would like to try out for the Fall 2023 BHS Volleyball program, you must do the following:

  • Create a parent and student account on FinalForms.  For help with account setup, please click HERE.

  • Register for Fall Volleyball in the 2023-2024 school year by selecting this activity on the Sports/Activities page

  • Complete all forms (with parent and student signatures) that show up in left hand column of your student's account

  • Complete an ImPACT concussion test, or have a current test on file with the Athletic Department (you can find the status of your concussion test once you have logged into FinalForms)

  • Complete a Physical Form, or have current physical on file with the Athletic Department (FinalForms will tell you the expiration date of your current physical form)

  • Payment is not required upfront.  Because volleyball is a cut sport, you can wait until after tryouts to pay your athletic fee HERE.

What do I need to do to participate in open gyms in June and July?

You must have completed all of the steps for participation in Fall 2023 volleyball to be eligible for open gyms.  In addition, rising 9th graders cannot participate until they have formally graduated from 8th grade. For players coming to BHS from Chinook, the first open gym they can attend will be announced via email and on this website.

I'm a parent - how do I get involved?

There is a parent event at the beginning of each season where volunteer positions are discussed and a sign-up sheet is distributed. There will also be online volunteer sheets for each match on the "Volunteer" tab of this website once the season has started. If you have any questions, please contact any one of the BHS Volleyball Booster board members.
